Alarm.com (NASDAQ:ALRM) has introduced the 781B Battery Video Doorbell, a wire-free device designed for locations without existing doorbell wiring.
The device uses a rechargeable battery and Wi-Fi connectivity and can be installed at locations including side and back doors, detached garages, gates and sheds. It does not require a separate hub or base station.
According to Alarm.com, the 781B is its first battery-powered video doorbell to offer animal and vehicle detection alongside people and package detection through its Advanced Video Analytics technology.
Doorbell Adds Familiar Face and Deterrence Features
The 781B includes Familiar Face Analytics, which the company said can recognise up to five individuals and provide customised notifications.
Other features include two-way audio and Call Screen Actions, which allow users to initiate connected functions such as unlocking a door or switching on lights.
The device also supports Perimeter Guard, which uses lights and audio alerts in response to unwanted visitors. An AI Deterrence feature can provide AI-generated verbal warnings when a person is detected.
“The 781B brings intelligent video, proactive deterrence, and connected actions to more entryways,” said Dan Kerzner, President of Platforms Business at Alarm.com. “It gives our service providers another strong wireless option for delivering comprehensive video coverage across a property.”
Rechargeable Battery Supports Optional Trickle Charging
The 781B uses a removable rechargeable battery that is also compatible with Alarm.com’s Volt Series V731B Battery Camera.
Users can optionally connect the doorbell to wiring for continuous trickle charging. The device also incorporates Energy Saver Video Analytics, which is designed to reduce battery consumption during periods of inactivity.
Bluetooth enrolment is included to assist service providers with installation and setup.
The 781B is compatible with a range of Alarm.com residential and commercial video service packages, although the company said the availability of individual features varies depending on the package selected.
