Elbit Systems Secures $200 Million in Airborne Defence Contracts in Asia-Pacific

Elbit Systems Ltd. (NASDAQ:ESLT) has secured contracts worth approximately $200 million from an undisclosed country in the Asia-Pacific region for airborne intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance (ISTAR) systems and military training solutions.

The Israeli defence technology company said the agreements will be executed over a period of up to five years and cover the supply of helicopter-mounted surveillance equipment, airborne combat training systems and Head-Up Display (HUD) technology.

The contracts also include support and upgrade services for existing airborne training capabilities.

Elbit Systems did not identify the customer or disclose the individual contract values associated with each technology category.

SPECTRO 12 Surveillance Systems to Be Installed on Helicopters

Under the agreements, Elbit Systems will supply its SPECTRO 12 multispectral intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) and targeting payload for integration into helicopter platforms.

The SPECTRO 12 system combines several sensing and targeting technologies within a single airborne unit.

Its capabilities include multispectral imaging, laser target designation and artificial intelligence-based image processing designed to assist with target detection and tracking.

Multispectral sensing allows the system to collect information across different portions of the electromagnetic spectrum, supporting observation and identification activities under varying operating conditions.

The integrated laser designator provides a means of identifying targets for compatible targeting systems.

AI-based image processing is intended to support the interpretation of sensor information and assist operators in identifying and tracking objects.

The company did not disclose the number of SPECTRO 12 systems covered by the contracts or specify the helicopter models on which they will be installed.

Contracts Include Airborne Combat Training Support and Upgrades

The agreements also cover follow-on support and upgrades for airborne live training systems.

These systems are used to support military aviation exercises involving air-to-air and air-to-ground combat scenarios.

Elbit Systems said the training capabilities include weapon scoring and mission debriefing functions.

Weapon scoring technology is designed to assess the results of simulated or live training engagements, providing information about performance during exercises.

Mission debriefing systems allow training personnel and aircrews to review recorded mission information and evaluate operational procedures.

The contracts will provide continued support and technology updates for these airborne training capabilities.

Elbit Systems did not disclose the number of training systems involved or provide details of the specific upgrades to be delivered.

Head-Up Display Systems Included in Agreements

Elbit Systems will also supply Head-Up Display systems for integration across multiple airborne platforms.

The HUD technology incorporates high-resolution display capabilities and is designed to operate with relatively low power consumption.

The systems are intended for use during both daytime and night-time operations.

Head-Up Displays present flight and mission information within a pilot’s forward field of view, allowing access to relevant data without requiring continuous reference to instruments elsewhere in the cockpit.

The technology can be integrated into different aircraft configurations depending on platform requirements.

Elbit Systems did not specify the number of HUD units ordered or identify the aircraft platforms that will receive the equipment.

Elbit Systems CEO Comments on Airborne Technology Portfolio

Bezhalel Machlis, President and Chief Executive Officer of Elbit Systems, commented on the company’s airborne defence capabilities following the contract announcement.

“Elbit Systems’ airborne solutions combine advanced technologies with extensive operational experience across a wide range of mission environments,” Machlis said.

The agreements cover several areas of the company’s airborne technology portfolio, including surveillance and targeting equipment, training systems and cockpit displays.

The combination of equipment supply, support services and upgrades will involve deliveries and related activities over the contracts’ execution period.

The company has not provided a detailed delivery schedule or disclosed how revenue will be distributed across the five-year timeframe.

Elbit Systems Reports $32 Billion Order Backlog

The contract announcement follows Elbit Systems’ previously reported financial results for the second quarter of 2026.

The Haifa-based company generated revenue of $2.29 billion during the three months ended 30 June 2026.

As of the same date, its order backlog stood at $32.0 billion.

The backlog represents the value of contracted orders that had not yet been recognised as revenue at the reporting date.

The newly announced Asia-Pacific agreements have a combined value of approximately $200 million, although the company did not specify when the contracts were formally awarded or how they will be reflected in subsequent backlog reporting.

Revenue recognition will depend on the terms of the agreements and the delivery of the contracted products and services.

Elbit Systems Contract Outlook

Elbit Systems’ latest agreements expand its contracted activities in the Asia-Pacific region across airborne surveillance, targeting, training and display technologies.

The contracts include the SPECTRO 12 multispectral payload for helicopter integration, support and upgrades for combat training systems, and HUD equipment for multiple aircraft platforms.

The approximately $200 million contract value will be associated with work performed over a period of up to five years.

The company has not disclosed the customer, equipment quantities, individual contract values or detailed delivery milestones.

Future financial reporting will provide further information on the contribution of these agreements to Elbit Systems’ revenue and order backlog as the contracted work progresses.
