Miners at dawn

Nevada Sunrise Metals: A dawning gold and copper growth story

From a bird’s eye view, investing in commodities carries two primary value propositions, one tied to psychology, the other to industrial utility, each of which can support long-term portfolio growth.

From a psychological perspective, commodities offer the potential to protect your portfolio from inflation and geopolitical instability, with gold differentiating itself as the asset of choice for these purposes thanks to its scarcity and millennia-spanning association with luxury.

This article is disseminated in partnership with Nevada Sunrise Metals Corp.  It is intended to inform investors and should not be taken as a recommendation or financial advice.

This is why, during times of economic duress, investors have flocked to the yellow metal, keen for exposure to its value-preservation capabilities, as evidenced by an inflation-beating average return of 8-9% since unpegging from the US dollar in 1971. Gold’s limited utility, besides jewelry and investment, holds a negligible bearing on demand, thanks to its synonymity with beauty, glamor and royalty, which has propelled prices to record levels above the US$4,000 per ounce mark for most of the past two years.

From the perspective of industrial utility, gold cedes the stage to critical minerals serving as the backbone of renewable energy, artificial intelligence, construction, electronics and defense technology, among numerous other essential industries, exposure to which align a portfolio with the foundations of a thriving society.

We’re talking about copper for electrical wiring, lithium for electric vehicle batteries, uranium for nuclear energy and rare earth elements for permanent magnets, among a slew of other use-cases that shape your life on a daily basis.

Consequently, governments around the world are clambering to secure reliable supplies, opening the door for investors to identify the companies best-positioned to discover, extract and process critical minerals for market.

The logical question a perceptive investor might ask is, are there mining companies trading today that blend the best of both worlds, enhancing compounding potential through exposure to the fundamental building blocks of industry, as well as to the commodity sector’s safe-haven properties?

Nevada Sunrise Metals’ polymetallic upside potential

Junior miner Nevada Sunrise Metals (USOTC:NVSGF) (TSXV:NEV), market cap C$5.65 million, takes a holistic approach to shareholder value through the advancement of its flagship gold and copper projects in Nevada, each of which makes a strong case for long-term upside thanks to a combination of historical data, modern exploration techniques and strategically located land packages.

The company’s demonstrated potential for untapped value, paired with a stock that has failed to acknowledge it, posting a 50% loss since 2021, positions investors to benefit from a sizeable re-rating, should a leadership team de-risked by wide-ranging geological and mining C-suite experience succeed at delivering positive news flow over the coming months and years.

Let dig into our due diligence on Nevada Sunrise, analyzing one flagship project at a time, careful to delineate exactly why the company is a compelling candidate to create substantial operational leverage above the spot prices of its target commodities.

The Griffon Project’s past-production paves the way forward

Nevada Sunrise’s 100%-owned Griffon Project, one of two flagship gold assets, hosts a past-producing mine about 50 kilometres (km) southwest of Ely, Nevada, within the Battle Mountain-Eureka Gold Belt, one of the most prolific in the state. Alta Gold mined the 720-hectare project from 1998 to 1999, reportedly producing 62,661 ounces of oxide gold from less than 50 metres (m) deep through two open pits.

Based on partner VRIFY’s AI-powered analysis of Griffon’s historical database, the company conducted a Fall 2025 surface exploration program, most recently yielding multi-element geochemical resampling results from four historical drillholes by Freemont Gold in 2020 previously analyzed only for gold. All drillholes revealed pathfinder elements associated with Carlin-type gold deposits. Highlights from the 305 m of drill cuttings under analysis include:

  • Drillhole GF20-3, originally drilled to a depth of 165 m within the drill-tested but unmined Anvil Zone, located on the southern edge of the Hammer Ridge Pit, where Freemont yielded 1.05 grams per ton (g/t) of gold over 50.2 m. Nevada Sunrise’s resampling returned 1.013 g/t gold over the same interval, including higher-grade intercepts of 1.97 g/t gold over 10.7 m and a peak of 3.09 g/t gold over 1.5 m, supporting a strong correlation between gold and anomalous arsenic, antimony, mercury, thallium and tellurium, each a geochemical signal for potential Carlin-type gold deposits.
  • Drillhole GF20-2, drilled to a depth of 170 m, just north of the Discovery Ridge Pit, with resampling replicating 2020 results to the tune of 0.30 g/t gold over 30.5 m, including 0.68 g/t gold over 7.7 m and a peak value of 0.954 g/t gold over 1.5 m.
  • Drillholes GF20-1 and GF20-7B, whose high values for pathfinder elements, paired with minimal gold mineralization, suggest their proximity to a more robustly mineralized gold zone.

The Carlin-type pathfinder elements, identified for the first time on the project, will serve as fresh leads for new targets as the company prepares for a drilling program later this year.

Nevada Sunrise wasted no time building conviction on top of its resampling success with a 2025 Ionic Leach soil sampling survey, released only a few weeks later, composed of 700 samples in areas surveyed for high-resolution magnetics, 3D induced polarization/resistivity and audio magnetotellurics, as detailed in a December 2025 news release. The modern survey method, capable of identifying mineral traces buried deep underground, yielded:

  • Gold-in-soil anomalies southeast of the Hammer Ridge Pit and northeast and northwest of the Discovery Ridge Pit, overlapping with Alta Gold’s historical production.
  • Highly anomalous gold values between 13.6 parts per billion (ppb) and 59.6 ppb from the Anvil Zone.
  • Carlin-type pathfinder elements are associated with all identified gold values.

VRIFY and Nevada Sunrise are enhancing Griffon’s AI model with the latest exploration results to pinpoint vectors for potential mineralization and develop new targets for a 2026 drilling program.

Exploration at Griffon, as well as the Fivemile Project, which we’ll profile next, will be funded by a C$1.05 million capital raise, closed in July, with C$700,000 earmarked for exploration expenditures and property option payments.

The Fivemile Project’s proximity to the world’s top gold project is no fluke

The company strengthens its gold exposure through the 6,033-acre Fivemile Project, located in Lander County, Nevada, within the Battle Mountain-Eureka-Cortez Gold Trend, home to several globally relevant gold mines and deposits. These include the Cortez Hills Mine 6.4 km to the south-southwest and the Goldrush Mine 5 km to the southwest, both operated by Nevada Gold Mines, a joint venture between Barrick Mining (61.5%) and Newmont Mining (38.5%), which currently ranks as the world’s largest gold-producing complex. Output for 2026 is estimated at 1.42-1.58 million ounces. Barrick’s Fourmile Deposit, from which Fivemile derives its name, lies only 10 km to the southwest and will soon join the joint venture.

Following the reprocessing of publicly-available data from the United States Geological Survey (USGS), plus an in-house geological interpretation of structural features visible in available geophysical, geological and satellite imagery, Fivemile, currently under a 79% option, was found to back up its proximity to its well-established neighbors with two types of mineralization:

  • Epithermal gold and silver related to the Caetano Caldera.
  • A potential underlying Carlin-type gold deposit grounded in favorable interpreted geological, geophysical and structural features similar to Cortez Hills, Fourmile and Goldrush, including the conjunction of a gravity high anomaly (mirroring Fourmile and Goldrush) with a magnetic low anomaly.

This preliminary work set the stage for Nevada Sunrise’s inaugural exploration program at Fivemile, including its own Ionic Leach soil survey program, vaulting the project into the modern exploration age.

The survey unveiled numerous areas of anomalous gold, arsenic, copper and selenium, despite the land package’s negligible surface expression, in addition to a geochemical anomaly known as a depletion halo in the northern part of the project – located above geophysical anomalies from USGS data reprocessing – characterized by an aureole of potentially high-grade mineralization surrounding a lower-value core.

Furthermore, Nevada Sunrise interprets that groundwater flow may have weakened higher-grade values near the depletion halo, resulting in a robust “apron soil anomaly” in a lake bed in the southern part of the project, as evidenced by intermittent springs as close as 1.6 km south of the northern geophysical anomalies. The lateral movement of metal ions by groundwater has been a part of geological literature for more than 30 years, with notable papers appearing in the Ontario Geological Survey and the Journal of Geochemical Exploration.

Nevada Sunrise is encouraged by Fivemile’s gold-in-soil anomalies and accompanying pathfinder elements, prompting it to solicit bids for a high-resolution ground gravity survey planned for Q4 2026 to better define the aforementioned gravity high and magnetic low conjunction.

The Coronado Project’s clustered anomalies harbor multi-deposit potential

Nevada Sunrise diversifies its portfolio into the critical minerals space with the Coronado project, whose prospectivity for copper, one of the world’s most electrically conductive metals – essential for manufacturing electrical wiring, power grids, electric vehicle batteries, circuit boards, microchips, as well as our plumbing and water systems – aligns investors with the tailwind driven by the fact that, over the next 30 years, humanity will require more copper than has been consumed across recorded history.

The 1,230-hectare project, under a 100% option agreement, is located 48 km southeast of Winnemucca, Nevada, in the state’s Tobin and Sonoma Range, over an interpreted trend adjacent to the historic Big Mike copper mine, whose past production and established resource, located only 4.5 km to the southeast, speak volumes about Coronado’s untapped upside.

Big Mike, discovered in the 1960s and now classified as a volcanogenic massive sulphide deposit – the category did not exist at the time – hosts a historical 1969 resource published by Cerro Corp. estimated at 634,000 tons grading 3.41% copper, which was mined out in 1970 by Ranchers Exploration and Development Company, producing about 25 million pounds of copper (100,000 tons of ore at 10.5% copper) for smelters in Japan and West Germany. Ranchers also heap leached about 300,000 tons of lower-grade copper ore. Big Mike later yielded samples of up to 0.25% cobalt in 1984, establishing a vector for a second critical mineral on the property.

Nevada Sunrise bolstered Coronado’s ample historical evidence for exploration upside with a 2018 geophysical survey identifying several significant conductive anomalies near Big Mike, whose clustering trend points to Coronado’s district-scale potential. These anomalies are highlighted by the Coronado South conductor, an airborne electromagnetic anomaly, whose outcrops exposing thin bedded exhalite are similar to that found on the Big Mike mine and land package.

The company subsequently verified the most conductive survey areas through follow-up ground geological work, uncovering numerous surface features, including sulphides, consistent with the presence of a buried copper deposit.

A gravity survey followed in 2019 outlining low-gravity zones aligned with anomalies to the north and south of the property – a revelation given the area’s high magnetic susceptibility – which leadership interprets as weathered caps associated with copper mineralization.

Nevada Sunrise added a geochemical sampling program to the mix in Fall 2020, detecting a cluster of pronounced anomalies above the Coronado South geophysical conductor.

With an abundance of exploration leads to choose from in search of new copper deposits on trend with Big Mike, the company has solid grounds for a future drilling program to bring Coronado to greater market awareness.

Efficient, underappreciated commodity sector exposure

When it comes to junior mining stocks, Nevada Sunrise earns high conviction thanks to a handful of complementary factors amenable to a long-term time horizon. Here’s a quick refresher:

  • The company’s target commodities, gold and copper, both the beneficiaries of established demand, are squarely aligned with the commodity sector’s roles as portfolio ballast and as a source of inflation-beating returns propelled by critical minerals demand.
  • It’s well-positioned to capitalize on this demand thanks to a seasoned leadership team, money in the bank and underexplored projects brimming with vectors for mineralized upside.
  • Finally, Nevada Sunrise’s value proposition is wrapped up in a current state of undeserved market pessimism, marked by a stock that has given back half of its value since 2021, despite the company’s prospects looking assuredly up, with exploration news flow just around the corner.

Aided by Nevada’s year-round mining climate, look for Nevada Sunrise to improve its understanding of Griffon and Fivemile through 2026 and into 2027, keen to uncover new catalysts to usher them along the mining lifecycle and turn market sentiment around, potentially opening the door for integrating a trio of lithium projects into its long-term value-creation strategy.
