CAE Appoints Northrop Grumman Executive Matthew Bromberg as New CEO

CAE Inc. (NYSE:CAE), the Canadian aviation and defense technology company, has named Matthew Bromberg as its next chief executive officer. Currently a senior executive at Northrop Grumman (NYSE:NOC), Bromberg will officially assume the role on August 13, taking over from Marc Parent, who has led CAE since 2009 and announced his planned departure in November.

Bromberg brings extensive industry experience, having most recently overseen global operations at Northrop Grumman since 2022. His background also includes leadership of the military engine division at RTX Corp (formerly Raytheon Technologies), underscoring his deep roots in aerospace and defense.

The leadership change follows pressure from activist investor Browning West, which acquired a 4.3% stake in CAE and sought involvement in the CEO selection process last December. The appointment of Bromberg appears aligned with efforts to refresh the company’s leadership amid evolving market dynamics.

Alongside the CEO announcement, CAE revealed additional boardroom changes: former Air Canada CEO Calin Rovinescu will step in as executive chairman, while Sophie Brochu, ex-CEO of Hydro-Québec, has been named lead independent director.

These changes mark a significant leadership transition for CAE, as the company positions itself for continued growth in training, simulation, and defense services globally.
