Firefly Neuroscience Shares Tick Higher on Heidelberg University Research Collaboration

Shares of Firefly Neuroscience Inc (NASDAQ:AIFF) climbed 3% after the company highlighted its collaboration with Heidelberg University Hospital on a research project exploring the neurological effects of 15q13.3 copy number variants (CNVs).

The partnership involves analyzing EEG data from 30 individuals using Firefly’s FDA-cleared brain health assessment platform. Spearheaded by Prof. Dr. med. Christian Schaaf, the study aims to uncover electrophysiological biomarkers linked to CNVs in the 15q13.3 chromosomal region, as well as to differentiate the neurocognitive traits associated with deletions versus duplications. The research is expected to continue through 2026.

Firefly is providing EEG equipment, training, and analytical support for the project, continuing a scientific collaboration with Prof. Schaaf that previously produced a joint publication focused on CHRNA7-related conditions.

“This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to advancing precision neuroscience,” said Gil Issachar, Chief Technology Officer of Firefly. The company’s analysis will benchmark the EEG findings against its FDA-cleared proprietary normative database.

Firefly CEO Greg Lipschitz also noted growing traction for the company’s AI-driven EEG solutions, especially within the pharmaceutical and medtech sectors. “Pharmaceutical and medical technology organizations are increasingly using objective measures of brain activity like EEG across various stages of product development,” he said.

The study further supports Firefly’s mission to advance data-driven approaches to brain health and personalized neurology through strategic academic partnerships.
