Shares of MicroVision Inc. (NASDAQ:MVIS) climbed 4% after the company revealed that its MOVIA lidar system is now compatible with NVIDIA’s DRIVE AGX platform, a major AI computing platform used in the development of autonomous vehicles.
This integration enables automotive companies to adopt MicroVision’s perception-enhanced lidar sensors more easily by utilizing NVIDIA’s established software stack. The move could accelerate adoption of MicroVision’s technology in both ADAS (advanced driver-assistance systems) and fully autonomous vehicle platforms.
“With our MOVIA solution now supported on the NVIDIA DRIVE AGX platform via a plugin driver, we’re giving automotive OEMs and other partners robust point cloud data already processed by our powerful perception compute within the sensor,” said Glen DeVos, Chief Technology Officer of MicroVision.
The company emphasized that the partnership marks a significant step toward embedding its technology into vehicles equipped with sophisticated safety and automation features. MicroVision’s MOVIA L sensor, built with commercial trucking in mind, and the MOVIA S sensor, optimized for mass-market automotive deployment, are both expected to benefit from the expanded platform support.
The NVIDIA DRIVE AGX platform is widely recognized for enabling safe, AI-driven vehicle systems by handling the massive computing requirements of autonomous driving functions. With this new compatibility, MicroVision is positioning itself to play a greater role in the evolving automotive technology landscape.
