Tesla Reassigns Engineering Teams After Shutting Down Dojo AI Project – Bloomberg

Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) has redistributed its engineering workforce across various departments after CEO Elon Musk decided to halt the company’s in-house chip and supercomputer initiative, known as Dojo.

According to Bloomberg, citing sources familiar with the matter, the disbanded Dojo team has been divided, with staff integrated into multiple units within the electric vehicle manufacturer. Software engineers have been moved under the leadership of Ashok Elluswamy, who heads Tesla’s AI programs for robotaxis and humanoid robots.

Those previously focused on silicon and semiconductor development now report to Aaron Rodgers, who manages hardware for Tesla’s self-driving technology and is responsible for the AI5 chip program.

Firmware engineers have been reassigned to Silvio Brugada, who has overseen security engineering and assumed broader duties following the exit of David Lau, Tesla’s former software engineering chief.

The restructuring marks a notable change in Tesla’s organizational setup after the sudden cancellation of Dojo, which had been aimed at creating advanced computing systems to support the company’s artificial intelligence ambitions.
