Johnson & Johnson to spend $2 billion on new North Carolina manufacturing hub

Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ) revealed Thursday plans to invest $2 billion in expanding its manufacturing operations in North Carolina. The project will see a new facility of over 160,000 square feet built at FUJIFILM’s biopharmaceutical site in Holly Springs.

The decade-long investment is expected to create around 120 new jobs and aligns with J&J’s strategy to produce the bulk of its advanced medicines domestically for American patients.

“Johnson & Johnson has more manufacturing facilities in the U.S. than in any other country, and we continue to strengthen our presence here,” stated Joaquin Duato, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Johnson & Johnson.
“With the recent signing of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, we continue to expand our investment in the U.S. to lead the next era of healthcare innovation.”

Additional announcements regarding new U.S. manufacturing facilities and expansions of existing sites are planned in the coming months.

Earlier this year, in March, J&J pledged $55 billion over the next four years to bolster U.S. manufacturing, research and development, and technology initiatives.

Construction is also underway at J&J’s Wilson, North Carolina facility, which will employ over 500 workers once operational and generate roughly 5,000 construction jobs during the build phase.

J&J’s U.S. investments also cover significant R&D infrastructure for developing treatments across oncology, neuroscience, immunology, cardiovascular disease, and robotic surgery.
