Tesla Sees UK Sales Boost in August as EV Market Expands

Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) experienced a 7.63% increase in new-car sales in the United Kingdom in August compared with the same month last year, according to Thursday data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

The growth in Tesla registrations came alongside a broader 15% rise in battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales during the month, highlighting the continued expansion of the UK’s electric vehicle sector.

Data from research firm New AutoMotive suggested that the wider BEV segment outperformed even further, posting a 20% increase in August.

This upward momentum for Tesla and the electric vehicle market stands in contrast to the overall UK auto market, which fell 2% in new-car registrations to 82,908 units for the month.

The SMMT described August as the “quietest month” for car sales in Britain, making the growth in electric vehicle registrations especially notable in an otherwise subdued market.
