Envirotech Vehicles, Inc. (NASDAQ:EVTV) surged 60% on Monday following the unveiling of what the company says is the first U.S.-made drone capable of carrying 1,500 pounds, with applications in both agriculture and firefighting.
The advanced transportation and defense technology firm said the new model can deliver payloads of up to 1,500 pounds — a figure it described as unmatched among American-manufactured drones. The aircraft is designed to carry 100 gallons of liquid per mission and can stay airborne for up to 45 minutes when fully loaded.
Envirotech emphasized the drone’s dual-use potential. For farmers, it can be deployed for spraying, fertilization, and pest management, offering the potential to cut labor costs while boosting crop productivity. In fire protection, the drone is equipped to release up to 100 gallons of suppressant or water per trip, making it useful in wildfire areas where conventional aircraft face limitations.
“This is more than just a drone – this is the future of American resilience. From supporting our farmers to protecting our forests and defending our skies, EVTV has built a platform that can change industries. Today, we’re proving that American innovation leads the world,” said Elgin Tracy, Chief Operating Officer of EVTV.
The company added that it has been collaborating with U.S. government bodies and defense contractors to integrate the drone into advanced defense and security systems. Pre-orders will open next week for farmers, cooperatives, and federal agencies, with full-scale production slated to increase through 2026.
