Beam Global (NASDAQ:BEEM) surged 12.5% after announcing it received a patent for its advanced battery thermal management system.
The U.S. Patent Office granted Patent No. US 12,422,195 to Beam for its Phase Change Composite (PCC™) material, designed specifically for lithium-ion batteries. Unlike conventional solutions, Beam’s Smart PCC™ acts as a thermal switch—insulating batteries in cold environments while cooling them in high temperatures, improving durability in extreme conditions.
“This new patent covers our latest, innovative thermal management technology which makes our battery solutions more dynamic and capable of addressing a wide range of customer requirements,” said Desmond Wheatley, CEO of Beam Global.
The technology is critical for the company’s operations across diverse climates, from freezing winters in Serbia, where Beam Europe is based, to the scorching desert regions of the Middle East, where the company recently expanded.
Beam explained that Smart PCC™ improves battery safety and reliability by accommodating the natural expansion and contraction of the phase change composite with temperature fluctuations. The system is intended to boost performance, extend battery life, and offer scalable solutions for applications such as electric mobility, defense, and energy storage.
Beam Global, listed on Nasdaq as BEEM, continues to provide infrastructure solutions for transportation electrification and energy security.
