Blackstone names Katie Keenan as new Breit CEO after LePatner’s death – WSJ

Blackstone (NYSE:BX) has selected Katie Keenan to lead Breit, one of the firm’s largest funds aimed at individual investors, following the untimely passing of former CEO Wesley LePatner, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Keenan, 41, will additionally serve as the global head of Core+ real estate, managing all lower-risk investments across Blackstone’s $325 billion property portfolio.

LePatner, 43, and a mother of two, was fatally shot on July 28 in the lobby of Blackstone’s Park Avenue offices in New York. The assailant, reportedly targeting another tenant—the National Football League—killed four people before taking his own life.

Keenan currently serves as CEO of BXMT, Blackstone’s publicly traded commercial mortgage REIT, and has been with the firm since 2012. She also holds the role of co-chief investment officer of Blackstone’s $77 billion real-estate debt business.
