SciSparc Shares Surge Following Launch of Quantum Computing Program

SciSparc Ltd. (NASDAQ:SPRC) jumped 45.5% in premarket trading Thursday after announcing a new quantum computing initiative focused on 3D protein modeling.

The clinical-stage pharmaceutical company, specializing in therapies for central nervous system disorders, revealed that its board has approved a program designed to revolutionize drug discovery using quantum computing technology. The project aims to enhance the accuracy of protein structure predictions and their interactions with ligands.

To execute the initiative, SciSparc plans to assemble a dedicated research team that will integrate quantum computing algorithms into 3D protein modeling, generating new intellectual property. The company will work with experts in quantum computing and structural biology to develop these capabilities.

“Proteins are the building blocks of life and their function often depends on their unique 3D shapes,” the company said in its announcement. Unlike conventional computing approaches, quantum computing could simulate the energy dynamics of proteins with greater precision, capturing their complex movements and interactions more accurately.

The initiative will focus on quantum-enabled tools for predicting protein folding, modeling protein-drug interactions, and accelerating drug discovery through precise predictions. Early efforts will target neurological and rare diseases, areas in which SciSparc already holds expertise.

Additionally, the company plans to establish a wholly owned Israeli subsidiary to operate the program.
