Meta Platforms Inc. (NASDAQ:META) plans to use user interactions with its AI chatbot to tailor content and advertisements on Facebook and Instagram, according to a Bloomberg News report.
Starting December 16, the AI chatbot will influence the posts and ads users see. For instance, a user asking the chatbot for help planning a family vacation may begin seeing ads from travel companies within their Instagram feed.
This targeting approach will also extend to voice interactions with the chatbot via Meta’s headsets. Christy Harris, a privacy policy manager at Meta, noted that users will not be able to opt out of these changes.
Regarding the possibility of displaying ads directly within the chatbot interface, a company spokesperson commented, “We don’t have plans to share.”
