Rekor Systems (NASDAQ:REKR) shares surged 23% on Tuesday after the company announced it had secured its largest statewide contract to date with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) — a deal valued at a minimum of $50 million over its full term.
The multi-year agreement, which may be extended up to seven years at GDOT’s discretion, will support the statewide rollout of Rekor’s Discover and Data-as-a-Service (DaaS) platforms across Georgia’s transportation network. The contract also includes cooperative purchasing provisions that allow other Georgia agencies to participate, potentially boosting the total value to more than $100 million.
This deal marks Rekor’s second major statewide win in recent months, following the Texas Department of Transportation’s blanket purchase order in June for the company’s Rekor Command platform.
At the center of the GDOT partnership is Rekor Discover, the firm’s flagship Data-as-a-Service solution, which provides transportation agencies with real-time, Federal Highway Administration-compliant traffic data without the costs or complications of traditional sensor installations. The system integrates vehicle classification, weigh-in-motion, and non-motorized detection into a single, scalable platform.
Eric Conklin, State Transportation Data Administrator at GDOT, highlighted the value of Rekor’s technology, noting that it enables the department to gather traffic data in previously unreachable areas while enhancing safety for field crews and motorists. The platform’s non-intrusive design allows it to be installed alongside roadways, minimizing traffic disruptions and worker risk.
The contract is projected to deliver more than $50 million in revenue to Rekor over its term, with additional upside potential if local agencies across Georgia adopt the platform.
This milestone further strengthens Rekor’s leadership in intelligent transportation data solutions, reinforcing its growth trajectory and expanding its footprint in the public infrastructure technology market.
