Serve Robotics (NASDAQ:SERV) surged 15% after announcing a new collaboration with DoorDash (NYSE:DASH) to roll out its autonomous sidewalk robots for food delivery orders — expanding beyond its existing partnership with Uber Eats.
The San Francisco-based robotics company said Thursday that customers in Los Angeles ordering from select stores and restaurants via DoorDash may have their food delivered by a Serve robot, according to Reuters and Bloomberg.
Serve plans to scale this service nationwide, leveraging DoorDash’s dominant position in the U.S. food delivery market.
This partnership is expected to significantly increase order volume by tapping into merchants and customers who use DoorDash rather than Uber’s platform. Previously, Serve’s robots were deployed exclusively for Uber Eats deliveries since their partnership launched in 2021.
“This partnership enables us to go to cities where DoorDash is the dominant player. Now that we have such a significant fleet size, there’s a very sizeable supply that we can provide to companies… and we’re looking for more demand, so that every minute of every day, the robots have access to more jobs,” said Serve co-founder and CEO Ali Kashani.
Kashani added that this tie-up will meaningfully boost Serve’s revenues as it scales to the level of its Uber Eats partnership. Serve currently operates in Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago, and Atlanta and has completed more than 100,000 deliveries from over 2,500 restaurants.
