In the U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were flat and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average flat. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.
In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 climbed 0.1% in morning trading. United Internet rose 5.2% and Viaplay Group Series B rose 3.9%. On the other hand, Elekta Series B sunk 3.8%, and Netcompany Group slipped 3%. The FTSE 100 added 0.2%. Other stocks in Europe were up as France’s CAC 40 increased 0.2% and Germany’s DAX climbed 0.2%.
The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index dropped 0.2% to 96.05.
In commodities, Brent crude gained 0.1% to $79.44 a barrel, and WTI crude climbed 0.1% to $74.87 a barrel.
The German 10-year Bund yield fell by 2.5 basis points to 2.624% from 2.649%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury declined by 2.5 basis points to 3.949% from 3.974% Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.
Stocks in Asia were mixed as Japan’s Nikkei 225 index declined 0.8%, whereas Hong Kong’s Hang Seng gained 0.9%. China’s benchmark Shanghai Composite fell 0.8%.
