In the U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were up 0.2% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.1%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.
In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 gained 0.1% in morning trading. Softcat climbed 5% and Diploma PLC added 4.7%. On the other hand, Viaplay Group Series B dropped 28.5%, and Barratt Developments lost 4.9%. The FTSE 100 was flat. Other stocks in Europe were mixed as France’s CAC 40 increased 0.2% and Germany’s DAX held steady.
The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index fell 0.2% to 95.16.
In commodities, Brent crude rose 0.4% to $80.40 a barrel, and WTI crude gained 0.3% to $75.96 a barrel.
The German 10-year Bund yield declined by 7.6 basis points to 2.471% from 2.547%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury fell by 3.6 basis points to 3.826% from 3.862% Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.
Stocks in Asia were up as Japan’s Nikkei 225 index gained 1.5%, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng climbed 2.5%. China’s benchmark Shanghai Composite gained 1.3%.
