US Futures Rise, European Stocks Mixed

In the U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were up 0.2% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 0.2%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.

In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 declined 0.1% in morning trading. Viaplay Group Series B climbed 28% and Wartsila rose 13%. On the other hand, Lonza Group dropped 7.5%, and Stora Enso R lost 6.2%. The FTSE 100 was flat. Other stocks in Europe were mixed as France’s CAC 40 was flat and Germany’s DAX dropped 0.6%.

The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index was flat at 95.6.

In commodities, Brent crude gained 0.8% to $80.28 a barrel, and WTI crude climbed 0.9% to $76.30 a barrel.

The German 10-year Bund yield rose by 0.1 basis points to 2.488% from 2.487%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury climbed by 0 basis points to 3.854% from 3.853% Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.

Stocks in Asia were mixed as Japan’s Nikkei 225 index fell 0.6%, whereas Hong Kong’s Hang Seng gained 0.6%. China’s benchmark Shanghai Composite dropped 0.1%.
