Tuniu shares rise more than 4% after return to profitability

Tuniu Corporation (NASDAQ:TOUR) reported fourth-quarter results on Thursday showing a return to profitability, with net revenues reaching RMB123.5 million ($17.7 million), up 20.3% year over year from RMB102.7 million in the same period last year.

Shares of the company climbed 4.6% in pre-market trading following the announcement.

The online leisure travel platform posted adjusted net income of RMB3.5 million ($0.5 million) for the quarter, compared with an adjusted net loss of RMB6.4 million in the fourth quarter of 2024.

Revenue from package tours rose sharply by 35.3% year over year to RMB102.1 million ($14.6 million), supported by growth in both organized tour offerings and self-guided travel packages. Other revenue declined 21.4% year over year to RMB21.5 million ($3.1 million), mainly due to weaker merchandise sales.

“We achieved a year-over-year return to profitability in the fourth quarter and once again delivered full-year profitability, marking the third consecutive year of full-year non-GAAP profitability,” said Donald Dunde Yu, founder, Chairman and CEO. “In 2025, we adopted a proactive product strategy and an open sales channel approach, driving sustained business growth.”

Operating expenses fell 16.4% year over year to RMB69.0 million ($9.9 million), with general and administrative costs dropping 52.2%, largely due to an impairment charge recorded in the prior-year period.

The company reported operating income of RMB1.1 million ($0.2 million), compared with an operating loss of RMB12.7 million in the fourth quarter of 2024.

Looking ahead, Tuniu expects first-quarter 2026 net revenue to range between RMB125.7 million and RMB131.6 million, representing year-over-year growth of 7% to 12%. The midpoint of RMB128.7 million would imply a 9.5% increase compared with the first quarter of 2025.

The board also approved a three-year shareholder return plan that includes up to $30 million in cash dividends and share repurchases of up to $20 million.
