FedEx introduces same-day local delivery service through OneRail partnership

FedEx Corp. (NYSE:FDX) announced the rollout of FedEx SameDay Local, a delivery service designed to offer customers two-hour and end-of-day delivery options.

The service is being launched in partnership with OneRail, a last-mile logistics provider, which connects FedEx customers to a network of more than 1,000 delivery partners. At checkout, customers can choose their preferred delivery window, and orders are automatically assigned to suitable vehicles and drivers.

FedEx SameDay Local includes real-time shipment tracking from pickup through delivery, predictive estimated arrival times, and digital proof of delivery. The system uses artificial intelligence-based routing to determine the most efficient delivery providers and improve service performance.

“FedEx SameDay Local will provide our customers with a scaled solution to give the delivery options customers want, without adding complexity to their operations,” said Jason Brenner, senior vice president of digital portfolio at FedEx.

The service also offers 24/7 monitoring support and is capable of handling large, oversized or specialized shipments. Businesses can integrate the service through APIs or supported logistics platforms.

FedEx cited research showing that 96% of shoppers consider fast delivery to mean same-day service, while 80% want to see same-day delivery options available at checkout. According to the company’s Future of Logistics Intelligence Report, 36% of consumers prioritize dependable delivery time windows.

FedEx generates about $92 billion in annual revenue and employs more than 500,000 people worldwide. The Memphis-based company provides transportation, e-commerce and business services across global markets.
