In the U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were up 0.1% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 0.2%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.
In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 declined 0.5% in morning trading. Koninklijke Philips added 3.8% and alstria office REIT rose 3%. On the other hand, GN Store Nord dropped 9.4%, and Nibe Industrier Series B lost 8.6%. The FTSE 100 lost 0.5%. Other stocks in Europe were down as France’s CAC 40 declined 0.6% and Germany’s DAX fell 0.6%.
The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index was flat at 98.3.
In commodities, Brent crude climbed 0.4% to $83.81 a barrel, and WTI crude gained 0.4% to $79.69 a barrel.
The German 10-year Bund yield rose by 4 basis points to 2.694% from 2.652%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury climbed by 4 basis points to 4.295% from 4.256%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.
Stocks in Asia were mixed as Japan’s Nikkei 225 index declined 0.4%, whereas Hong Kong’s Hang Seng gained 0.1%. China’s benchmark Shanghai Composite climbed 0.4%.
