NVIDIA commits $2 billion investment in Marvell to expand AI infrastructure collaboration

NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) announced a $2 billion investment in Marvell Technology Inc. (NASDAQ:MRVL) as part of a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening NVIDIA’s artificial intelligence infrastructure ecosystem through its NVLink Fusion technology.

The collaboration will integrate Marvell into NVIDIA’s AI factory and AI-RAN ecosystem using NVLink Fusion, a rack-scale platform designed to help customers build semi-custom AI infrastructure. Under the agreement, Marvell will develop custom XPUs and NVLink Fusion-compatible scale-up networking, while NVIDIA will contribute technologies including the Vera CPU, ConnectX NICs, BlueField DPUs, NVLink interconnects, and Spectrum-X networking switches.

Beyond computing infrastructure, the companies also plan to work together on silicon photonics technology and explore ways to transform telecommunications networks into AI-driven infrastructure using NVIDIA Aerial AI-RAN for future 5G and 6G networks.

“The inference inflection has arrived. Token generation demand is surging, and the world is racing to build AI factories,” said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA. “Together with Marvell, we are enabling customers to leverage NVIDIA’s AI infrastructure ecosystem and scale to build specialized AI compute.”

Matt Murphy, chairman and CEO of Marvell, said the partnership “reflects the growing importance of high-speed connectivity, optical interconnect and accelerated infrastructure in scaling AI.” He added that combining Marvell’s expertise in high-performance analog technology, optical DSP, silicon photonics, and custom silicon with NVIDIA’s AI platform will allow customers to deploy scalable AI systems more efficiently.

NVIDIA said the NVLink Fusion platform enables heterogeneous AI environments that integrate seamlessly with NVIDIA’s GPU, networking, and storage solutions while remaining compatible with the company’s broader technology stack and supply chain ecosystem.
