U.S. Economy Expanded More Slowly Than Estimated in Late 2025

The U.S. economy expanded at a slower pace than previously reported in the final quarter of 2025, according to updated figures released Thursday by the Commerce Department.

The revised data showed real gross domestic product grew at an annual rate of 0.5% in the fourth quarter, down from the earlier estimate of 0.7%. Economists had expected the prior figure to remain unchanged.

Officials said the revision largely reflected weaker investment than initially estimated.

Even with the adjustment, the fourth-quarter expansion represents a sharp deceleration from the 4.4% growth recorded in the third quarter.
