GEN Restaurant Group Inc. (NASDAQ:GENK) said it is expanding its retail product offerings to 190 grocery stores across the United States, bringing a range of items inspired by dishes served in its restaurants to supermarket shelves.
The Korean barbecue chain will introduce 22 retail SKUs derived from its menu, including meat products, side dishes, frozen and shelf-stable foods, sauces, and beef jerky. The company will also offer beverages, including GENJU, a soju brand developed under the GEN label. Production and formulation of the retail products were managed in partnership with co-packing manufacturers.
Based in Cerritos, California, GEN operates 59 company-owned restaurants where guests prepare their meals at tables equipped with built-in grills. The brand was founded in 2011 in Los Angeles by two Korean immigrants and serves a mix of traditional Korean and Korean-American cuisine, including meats, poultry, seafood, and vegetables.
The retail rollout marks a strategic effort by the company to meet growing consumer interest in enjoying restaurant-style products at home. The expansion was announced through a company press release.
