Commvault appoints Gary Merrill as CFO, Geoff Haydon to lead customer operations

Commvault (NASDAQ:CVLT) has announced two senior leadership changes effective immediately, naming Gary Merrill as Chief Financial Officer and Geoff Haydon as President of Customer and Field Operations. Both will report directly to CEO Sanjay Mirchandani.

Merrill returns to the CFO position, a role he previously held from 2022 to 2024. Over the past two years, he served as the company’s Chief Commercial Officer, overseeing sales and partner strategy. He brings more than two decades of experience at Commvault, including 15 years within its finance function.

Haydon joins the company from Ontinue, where he was Chief Executive Officer. Ontinue specializes in AI-driven managed detection and response services and was spun out of Open Systems in 2023. Haydon has also held senior roles at VMware and Secureworks. As part of the transition, he will step down from Commvault’s Board to focus on his operational responsibilities.

In his new role, Haydon will be responsible for overseeing the full customer lifecycle, including sales, partnerships, customer support and success functions.

“Gary has a long tenure with Commvault and a unique understanding of what customers need to be resilient in the AI era,” Mirchandani said.

The company also reaffirmed its previously issued guidance for the fourth quarter and full fiscal year 2026. Commvault is scheduled to report its next set of earnings on April 28, 2026, with a conference call set for 8:30 a.m. EDT.
