Lumen Shares Rise on New AWS Connectivity Partnership

Lumen Technologies (NYSE:LUMN) shares climbed 4% on Wednesday after the company announced a new collaboration with Amazon Web Services to deliver AWS Interconnect – last mile services.

Under the partnership, Lumen becomes the first network provider to offer last-mile connectivity for AWS Interconnect, allowing businesses to create private, high-speed links from offices, data centers or remote locations directly into AWS via the AWS Console and Lumen Connect platform. The solution is designed to cut deployment times from weeks to minutes by removing the need for multiple vendors and manual setup.

Lumen Cloud Interconnect is built on the company’s extensive network footprint, which includes more than 340,000 route miles and connects thousands of enterprise sites and data centers across the United States.

“Cloud and network infrastructure can no longer operate separately; modern applications demand they work as one,” said Jim Fowler, Chief Technology and Product Officer at Lumen Technologies. “Cloud providers are increasingly integrating connectivity as a cloud service, and Lumen’s network enables that seamless experience.”

The offering is aimed at organizations handling large-scale data workloads, including those involved in generative AI, machine learning, advanced analytics and real-time applications. Sectors such as healthcare, financial services, manufacturing and media are expected to benefit from the improved connectivity.

AWS Interconnect – last mile, supported by Lumen Cloud Interconnect, is now available to enterprise customers across the United States, with users able to manage connections and track performance metrics such as latency and availability through both AWS and Lumen platforms.
