Aehr Test Systems (NASDAQ:AEHR) shares surged 14% on Thursday after the company announced a record-breaking $41 million production order from its leading hyperscale AI customer, focused on package-level burn-in testing for custom AI processor ASICs.
The contract, the largest in Aehr’s history, covers Sonoma high-power package-level test and burn-in systems, as well as burn-in modules and device-specific sockets. Shipments are scheduled to begin in fiscal 2027, which starts on June 27, 2026.
With this latest deal, Aehr’s bookings for the second half have now surpassed $92 million, with six weeks still remaining in the fourth quarter. This figure exceeds the company’s recently raised guidance of $60 million to $80 million for the period. The equipment will be used to support high-volume burn-in testing of ASICs deployed in AI data center training and inference applications.
President and CEO Gayn Erickson said the order underscores the capability of the Sonoma platform for large-scale production testing of very high-power AI processor ASICs. He added that the same customer is also developing a next-generation, higher-power AI accelerator ASIC, expected to enter production later this year, and has already placed an initial order for multiple Sonoma systems.
Aehr recently expanded its Fremont, California facility, adding additional power capacity, cooling systems, and clean-room manufacturing space. The company also noted that it will begin delivering Sonoma systems from an upgraded contract manufacturing site this quarter, with the ability to produce more than 20 additional systems per month.
Looking ahead, Aehr said it sees strong pipeline demand across several markets, including AI processor burn-in, silicon photonics, and burn-in testing for silicon carbide and gallium nitride power semiconductors.
