USDA Partners with Palantir in $300m Deal to Upgrade Farm Services

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has entered into a $300 million Blanket Purchase Agreement with Palantir Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:PLTR) to enhance how it delivers services to farmers under its National Farm Security Action Plan.

The deal supports the USDA’s “One Farmer, One File” initiative, designed to streamline access to government programmes by reducing administrative complexity for farmers. As part of the partnership, Palantir will provide operational software aimed at improving efficiency for both farmers and field staff.

Palantir’s Landmark platform has already been used in February to support the rollout of the $11 billion Farmer Bridge Assistance Program. According to the announcement, the initiative set a new USDA record for online registrations, with farmers signing up within 62 minutes of launch, enabling remote enrolment and distributing more than $4.4 billion in aid within the first five days.

The platform allows farmers to submit acreage data through digital self-service tools, eliminating the need for in-person visits to local offices. It also integrates previously fragmented legacy systems into a single, unified framework.

“America depends on its farmers, and USDA is moving fast to give them the technology they need,” said Ali Monfre, Federal Engineering Lead at Palantir.

USDA Chief Information Officer Sam Berry said the collaboration is intended to improve transparency and responsiveness in protecting the nation’s food supply. “Our farmers sustain this nation, and modern tools help us support them with greater precision,” Berry said.

The agreement aligns with two key priorities: reinforcing farm security as a matter of national importance and speeding up programme delivery across USDA’s Farm Production and Conservation operations. It is expected to strengthen protections for U.S. farmland, improve supply chain resilience, and help guard agricultural programmes against fraud and foreign interference.
