Avery Dennison Invests $75 Million in Physical AI Firm Wiliot

Avery Dennison Corporation (NYSE:AVY) announced a $75 million minority investment in Wiliot, a firm focused on applying Physical AI to supply chain operations, according to a company statement.

The investment positions Avery Dennison as Wiliot’s preferred partner for inlay design, manufacturing, and commercialization. Both companies intend to broaden their joint go-to-market strategy across sectors including retail, logistics, and food, aiming to accelerate the adoption of digital identities for physical goods.

Strategic Partnership and Board Representation

As part of the deal, Avery Dennison will secure a seat on Wiliot’s Board of Directors, expanding its involvement beyond its current Board Observer role. The collaboration builds on Avery Dennison’s established presence in enabling digital identification technologies for physical products.

“We believe in the power of passive Bluetooth Low-Energy (BLE) and the significant opportunity to expand our portfolio with the solutions from Wiliot,” said Francisco Melo, president of intelligent labels technologies and digital solutions for Avery Dennison. “BLE is a complementary technology to RFID.”

Technology Focused on Real-Time Supply Chain Intelligence

Wiliot’s platform leverages battery-free Bluetooth sensors that transmit data to the cloud, where it is processed using artificial intelligence and machine learning models. The system enables capabilities such as real-time condition tracking, inventory visibility, and workflow optimization.

“Avery Dennison is a global leader in digital identification solutions and the premier partner in the design, manufacturing and go-to-market capabilities for Wiliot at the scale required to realize accelerating demand,” stated Tal Tamir, co-founder and CEO of Wiliot.
