In the U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were up 0.1% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.2%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.
In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 was flat in morning trading. Elekta Series B added 2.7% and Quilter rose 1.7%. On the other hand, TUI lost 3.1%, and Scatec dropped 2.2%. The FTSE 100 added 0.2%. Other stocks in Europe were mixed as France’s CAC 40 increased 0.1% and Germany’s DAX was flat.
The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index was flat at 98.52.
In commodities, Brent crude rose 0.6% to $83.45 a barrel, and WTI crude climbed 0.7% to $79.62 a barrel.
The German 10-year Bund yield declined by 1 basis point to 2.516% from 2.516% and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury climbed by 5 basis points to 4.241% from 4.241%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.
Stocks in Asia were down as Japan’s Nikkei 225 index declined 2.1%, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng fell 1.2%. China’s benchmark Shanghai Composite declined 0.6%.
