GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE:GEV) has secured a contract from the Middle Delta Electricity Production Company, part of the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company, to modernize generation assets at the Bahna and Nubaria power plants in Egypt. The order was recorded in the first quarter of 2026.
The three-year programme includes two Advanced Gas Path upgrades for GE Vernova 9F gas turbines at the Bahna facility, alongside multi-year service agreements for both sites. The Bahna contract runs for 15 years, while the Nubaria agreement spans eight years.
According to Mohamed El-Abd, the upgrades are expected to boost turbine output and improve efficiency by around 2%. “These improvements are expected to enable additional power generation with more efficient fuel use and may help reduce carbon emissions per megawatt hour,” he said.
Joseph Anis added that such upgrades can help operators increase output, extend maintenance cycles, and enhance efficiency, while improving overall reliability of electricity supply.
GE Vernova has been active in Egypt for over five decades, contributing to the development of the country’s power infrastructure through technology deployment, workforce training, and financing support. Its installed base in the country includes more than 60 gas and steam turbines, representing roughly 10 gigawatts of total generating capacity.
