GE Vernova Wins 100 MW Wind Turbine Contract for Gujarat Project (GEV)

GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE:GEV) has secured a new wind energy contract in India through an agreement with Powerica Limited to supply turbines for a 100 MW wind farm development in the state of Gujarat.

The project marks an important milestone for GE Vernova, as it will represent the first deployment of the company’s 3.8 MW onshore wind turbine model in the Indian market.

First Indian Deployment of 3.8 MW Turbine

Under the agreement, GE Vernova will provide 28 of its 3.8 MW wind turbines for the Botad Wind Farm project.

Powerica was awarded the project through a competitive auction organized by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited, one of India’s key electricity distribution entities.

Deliveries of the turbines are expected to begin during the fourth quarter of 2026.

Scope Includes Supply and Installation

In addition to supplying the turbines, GE Vernova will also provide installation services as part of the contract.

The Botad project represents the fourth wind farm collaboration between GE Vernova and Powerica, further strengthening the relationship between the two companies in India’s renewable energy sector.

Manufacturing to Be Based in India

The turbines will be produced at GE Vernova’s manufacturing facility in Pune, India.

According to the company, the plant is capable of supporting annual production capacity of up to 1,500 MW when operating at full utilization.

The project also highlights GE Vernova’s growing domestic manufacturing footprint as India continues to expand renewable energy investment.

Regulatory Approval Supports Market Expansion

GE Vernova recently obtained certification from India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and secured inclusion on the country’s Approved List of Models and Manufacturers of Wind Turbines.

Placement on the approved list is a key requirement for turbine suppliers participating in India’s wind energy market and supports the company’s ability to pursue future projects across the country.

Positioned to Benefit From India’s Renewable Energy Goals

India has set a target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil-fuel energy capacity by 2030, including 100 GW of wind power generation.

Against this backdrop, GE Vernova continues to expand its presence in one of the world’s fastest-growing renewable energy markets.

The company’s wind business surpassed 5 GW of installed capacity in India during 2025, underscoring its established position in the sector.

Advanced Turbine Technology

GE Vernova’s 3.8 MW turbine is designed with a projected operational lifespan of 30 years and incorporates digital blade certification technology intended to improve monitoring and performance.

Beyond its Pune manufacturing facility, the company maintains operations in Vadodara and operates a technology center in Bengaluru, supporting its broader renewable energy and power infrastructure activities across India.
