Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) has received regulatory clearance to deploy its Full Self-Driving supervised driver assistance system in Belgium, marking another step forward in the expansion of the company’s advanced driving technology across Europe.
The announcement was made by Annick De Ridder, transport minister for Belgium’s Flanders region, who confirmed the approval in a post published on X on Wednesday.
Regional Approval Opens Door to Nationwide Deployment
De Ridder revealed that the necessary authorisation had been formally granted, sharing an image of the signed approval document alongside her announcement.
“I just signed the approval,” she said in a post on X featuring a picture of an official signed document.
The approval follows a successful series of tests conducted by Tesla in Belgium and enables the company to begin rolling out the technology within the country.
Under Belgium’s regulatory framework, authorisations issued by any of the nation’s three regional governments are recognised nationwide, allowing Tesla to offer the system across all Belgian territories.
Belgium Joins Growing List of European Markets
With the decision, Belgium becomes the fifth member state of the European Union to approve Tesla’s Full Self-Driving supervised software.
The country joins the Netherlands, Lithuania, Estonia and Denmark, where the technology has already received regulatory clearance.
The latest approval reflects Tesla’s continued efforts to expand access to its advanced driver assistance systems across Europe as the company works to broaden the availability of its self-driving technologies in international markets.
