Robinhood Shares Gain as June Trading Activity Reaches New Highs (HOOD)

Robinhood Markets (NASDAQ:HOOD) shares rose 1.1% in premarket trading on Monday after the company released preliminary June operating metrics showing record trading activity across several of its key business segments.

The brokerage reported a 60% month-on-month increase in event contract volumes, while options trading climbed 38% and equity trading rose 27%. Cryptocurrency activity also strengthened, with total crypto volumes up 38% from the previous month. Bitstamp volumes jumped 52%, while crypto trading through the Robinhood app increased 22%.

Data covering the period through 25 June also exceeded Wall Street expectations in several categories. Event contract volumes came in 136% above analyst forecasts, options trading beat estimates by 110%, and equity volumes exceeded expectations by 48%. Cryptocurrency trading, however, was 51% below consensus projections.

Analysts linked the strong trading performance to favourable market conditions, with the S&P 500 rising 16% from its March-April lows. Increased retail participation was also supported by a sharp recovery in initial public offerings, with IPO volumes up 93% year over year through the end of May.

Robinhood recently announced plans to reduce its workforce by 10%. Following the latest trading update and revised assumptions for future interest rates, analysts raised their 2026-2028 net revenue forecasts by around 4%. They also lowered adjusted expense estimates for 2027 and 2028 by between 1% and 2%, while increasing adjusted earnings-per-share forecasts by 6% to 10% over the same period.
