SpaceX (NASDAQ:SPCX) will make its Grok 4.5 artificial intelligence model publicly available on Thursday, according to a social media post from chief executive Elon Musk.
Musk Positions Grok 4.5 Against Leading AI Models
Musk described Grok 4.5 as an “Opus-class” model, drawing comparisons with Anthropic’s Claude while claiming it delivers faster performance, greater token efficiency and lower operating costs.
The model is the flagship artificial intelligence offering from xAI, which was integrated into SpaceX earlier this year and subsequently rebranded as SpaceXAI.
Latest Upgrade Follows Private Beta
The previous version, Grok 4.3, was released in April, with Musk repeatedly signalling that a more advanced model was in development.
Earlier this month, he said Grok 4.5 had entered private beta testing across both SpaceX and Tesla. According to Musk, the model is built on xAI’s new V9 foundation model, which features 1.5 trillion parameters.
The public launch marks the latest step in SpaceXAI’s efforts to compete with other leading artificial intelligence developers as the race to deploy increasingly powerful AI models continues.
