Super Micro Computer (NASDAQ:SMCI) shares rose 2.6% on Wednesday after the company introduced a new Kubernetes Edge AI appliance developed in partnership with Red Hat and Everpure.
The new offering is a fully integrated edge Kubernetes platform powered by Red Hat OpenShift and the Portworx by Everpure data management solution. Supermicro said the turnkey appliance combines preconfigured hardware and software, allowing customers to deploy the platform immediately.
The solution integrates Red Hat OpenShift with Supermicro’s edge computing systems and Portworx’s Kubernetes-native data management platform, enabling organisations to deploy, manage, secure and scale artificial intelligence applications across distributed edge environments.
“AI inferencing at the edge requires more than just hardware—it demands a validated, scalable platform that customers can deploy with confidence,” said Vik Malyala, chief business officer at Supermicro. “Together with Red Hat and Everpure, we are delivering a turnkey Kubernetes Edge AI Appliance that simplifies deployment, accelerates time-to-revenue, and enables customers to efficiently scale AI workloads across distributed edge environments.”
Portworx by Everpure provides storage and data management designed specifically for Kubernetes, enabling enterprises to run AI inference workloads, containers and virtual machines at edge locations. The software-defined platform pools local storage across Supermicro edge servers, allowing the system to continue operating independently during network outages.
Supermicro said its broad portfolio of edge servers and computing devices, available in multiple form factors, enables the company to deliver tailored solutions for a wide range of customer applications.
