Strategic agreements strengthen future automotive chip supply
Micron Technology (NASDAQ:MU) has entered into Strategic Customer Agreements (SCAs) with seven leading automotive technology companies to help secure long-term supplies of memory and storage products for next-generation vehicle platforms.
The agreements include Qualcomm, Visteon, HARMAN, JOYNEXT, DENSO, Astemo and Hyundai Mobis, all of which are major Tier 1 suppliers and technology partners serving global automotive manufacturers.
According to Micron, the agreements are designed to improve long-term production planning by providing greater visibility into future demand for automotive memory and storage solutions. They also establish commercial terms covering supply commitments and pricing to support product development, qualification processes and manufacturing capacity for upcoming vehicle programs.
The company noted that these agreements were among the initiatives highlighted during its fiscal third-quarter 2026 earnings conference call.
Partnerships support software-defined and AI-enabled vehicles
“The next phase of automotive innovation will depend on the strength of the ecosystem behind it,” said Sanjay Mehrotra, chairman, president and CEO of Micron Technology. “These SCAs with leading automotive technology partners will help ensure that advanced vehicle platforms have the memory and storage capabilities required to deliver richer, safer and more intelligent experiences.”
Qualcomm president and CEO Cristiano Amon said the company continues to collaborate with automakers and Tier 1 suppliers on digital cockpit, advanced driver assistance and connected vehicle technologies, adding that its work with Micron provides “the strong technology foundation they need as vehicles become more intelligent and connected.”
Hyundai Mobis president and CEO Lee Gyu-suk said the collaboration is intended to support the development of future advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and software-defined vehicle architectures.
