CeriBell Inc. (NASDAQ:CBLL) shares climbed about 3% after the company announced that the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved a New Technology Add-on Payment (NTAP) for its Delirium Monitor System.
Medicare to Provide Additional Reimbursement
Under the NTAP approval, hospitals may receive up to $2,171 in additional reimbursement for each eligible Medicare inpatient case that uses the Ceribell Delirium Monitor System.
The payment is scheduled to become effective on October 1, 2026, providing hospitals with additional financial support for adopting the technology.
Builds on FDA Clearance
The reimbursement decision follows the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s 510(k) clearance granted in December 2025 for the Delirium Monitor System.
According to the company, the device is the first and only FDA-cleared technology specifically designed to assist clinicians with delirium screening and ongoing patient monitoring.
System Uses Continuous EEG Analysis
The Delirium Monitor System continuously evaluates automated electroencephalogram (EEG) data, alerting healthcare professionals when it identifies brain activity patterns associated with delirium.
The technology is intended to support clinicians in making more informed treatment decisions through continuous neurological monitoring.
Expanding the Ceribell Platform
CMS created the NTAP program to encourage the adoption of qualifying new medical technologies by providing additional reimbursement under the Medicare Hospital Inpatient Prospective Payment System.
The approval further expands the capabilities of CeriBell’s Point-of-Care EEG platform, which now combines seizure detection and delirium monitoring within a single system.
The platform is built on the company’s existing FDA-cleared technology used to identify nonconvulsive seizures and electrographic status epilepticus in critically ill patients.
