Applied Industrial Technologies Shares Rise 4% as Q4 Earnings and Revenue Beat Forecasts

Applied Industrial Technologies (NYSE:AIT) shares gained 4% in Thursday premarket trading after the industrial products distributor delivered fourth-quarter earnings and revenue above Wall Street expectations. Strong organic growth across both of its main segments helped the company achieve record quarterly sales, EBITDA and earnings per share as demand conditions continued to improve.

Fourth-quarter earnings comfortably beat estimates

Applied Industrial Technologies reported fourth-quarter earnings of $3.17 per share, exceeding the analyst consensus of $2.92.

Revenue increased 10.4% year over year to $1.4 billion, also coming in ahead of the $1.29 billion expected by analysts.

Organic sales advanced 9.7%, reflecting broad-based momentum across the business. The Engineered Solutions segment led the improvement with organic sales growth of 12.9%, while the Service Center segment delivered an increase of 7.9%.

Management attributed the performance to the company’s technical capabilities, ongoing sales initiatives and improving conditions across its end markets.

“We had a strong finish to fiscal 2026 with fourth quarter sales, EBITDA, and EPS achieving record quarterly levels and exceeding our expectations,” said Neil A. Schrimsher, President and Chief Executive Officer. “Organic sales growth of 10% was the strongest in more than three years with trends strengthening across both segments.”

Net income and EBITDA deliver double-digit growth

Applied Industrial Technologies also recorded significant earnings growth during the quarter.

Net income increased 13.2% year over year to $118.6 million, while EBITDA climbed 16.1% to $177.6 million.

The faster pace of EBITDA growth relative to revenue indicates improving operating leverage as stronger demand translated into higher profitability.

The combination of rising organic sales and improved earnings helped the company close fiscal 2026 with its strongest quarterly performance on several key financial measures.

Fiscal 2027 outlook reflects macro uncertainty

For fiscal 2027, Applied Industrial Technologies expects earnings of between $11.65 and $12.15 per share.

The midpoint of the range, at $11.90, sits below the current analyst consensus, introducing a more cautious element to the outlook despite the strong fourth-quarter results.

The company forecasts total sales growth of between 4.0% and 6.5%, while EBITDA margin is expected to range from 12.5% to 12.8%.

Management said the guidance takes into account continuing macroeconomic uncertainty related to geopolitical developments and changing trade-policy conditions.

The outlook therefore points to further growth in fiscal 2027, although at a more measured pace following the strong finish to the previous year.

Full-year sales reach $5 billion

Applied Industrial Technologies generated net sales of $5.0 billion during fiscal 2026, an increase of 8.8% compared with the previous year.

On an organic basis, full-year sales increased 5.4%.

Net income reached $414.5 million, equivalent to $10.95 per share and representing year-over-year growth of 8.2%.

Full-year EBITDA rose 10.0% to $618.2 million, further demonstrating the company’s ability to expand earnings alongside higher sales.

Applied Industrial raises five-year financial targets

Alongside its quarterly results, the company increased its intermediate-term financial objectives.

Applied Industrial Technologies is now targeting annual sales of $7 billion over the next five years, highlighting management’s expectations for continued expansion across its industrial markets.

The company is also aiming for an EBITDA margin of 14% over the same period, which would represent a meaningful improvement from the 12.5% to 12.8% range forecast for fiscal 2027.

While the fiscal 2027 earnings outlook reflects caution around geopolitical and trade uncertainty, the strong fourth-quarter beat and higher five-year targets reinforced confidence in the company’s longer-term growth strategy, helping lift Applied Industrial Technologies shares ahead of Thursday’s opening bell.
