SurgePays soars in pre-market trading on return to profitability

Nanocap financial and wireless technology provider SurgePays (NASDAQ:SURG) delivered strong Q2 2026 results, pivoting back into profitability alongside its sixth straight quarter of top-line gains.

Key financial highlights

The company’s Q2 financial statement highlights solid top-line performance paired with tighter overhead control:

  • Quarterly revenue: Reached US$16.20 million, marking a 40.7% year-over-year (YoY) surge.
  • First-half performance: Revenue for H1 climbed 45.7% YoY to US$32.19 million.
  • Expense reduction: General and administrative costs dropped by 9.3% across the same six-month period.
  • Bottom-line turnaround: SurgePays achieved US$1.29 million in net income (US$0.05 EPS), reversing a US$7.08 million net loss reported YoY.

Recent strategic developments

Building on its Q2 earnings momentum, SurgePays has executed two key growth initiatives heading into the second half of the year:

  1. Redline Wireless Group: Established on August 5th, this joint venture connects SurgePays with a premier U.S. distributor to potentially service more than 20,000 independent prepaid retailers. The company anticipates generating positive cash flow early in the rollout.
  2. Expansion of rent-to-own smartphone program: On August 11th, SurgePays announced accelerated traction for its partnership with All Prepaid (LowWeeklyPayments). Merchant sales reached US$176,000 in July—a 23% jump month-over-month—leading to discussions regarding a formal joint venture to scale the offering.

Outlook

Management anticipates this upward trajectory to persist into Q3, supported by its expanding distributor network and reduced operational expenditures.

Leadership commentary

“Q2 2026 marks our return to GAAP profitability, with net income available to common stockholders of US$1.29 million and strong revenue growth under our new multi-channel revenue structure. Revenue of US$16.20 million was 40.7 per cent above the same quarter a year ago, and first half 2026 revenue reached US$32.19 million, a 45.7 per cent increase over the first half of 2025,” Brian Cox, Chief Executive Officer of SurgePays, said in a statement.

“Over the past two years we have actively built a diversified, multi-channel revenue architecture for our business to be supported by multiple independent revenue streams. Our internal models show we are still in the early growth stages of each channel,” Cox added. “Q2 reflects the initial results of the platforms, integrations and systems we have been building. As we look to Q3 and the balance of 2026, we expect to benefit from our first full quarter under the renegotiated AT&T agreement, continued growth across each of our sales channels and what we anticipate being our seventh consecutive quarter of sequential revenue growth.”
