Keysight Technologies (NYSE:KEYS) shares climbed 2.6% in pre-market trading after the electronic design and testing specialist delivered record fiscal third-quarter results, comfortably exceeding Wall Street expectations for both earnings and revenue.
Adjusted earnings per share reached $3.07, well ahead of the analyst consensus of $2.48, while quarterly revenue came in at $1.85 billion versus expectations of $1.75 billion.
AI Infrastructure Demand Drives Orders Higher
Orders provided one of the strongest signals from the quarter, surging 56% year-on-year to $2.09 billion and significantly exceeding market expectations. Demand for testing solutions linked to artificial intelligence infrastructure was a major contributor to the increase.
Keysight’s Communications Solutions Group emerged as the principal growth driver, with commercial communications revenue jumping 56%.
Within the division, the wireline business benefited substantially from accelerating AI data centre investment. For the first time in Keysight’s history, wireline revenue surpassed revenue generated by the wireless business, highlighting the growing importance of AI-related infrastructure spending to the company’s performance.
Keysight Guidance Comes In Well Above Wall Street Forecasts
The earnings beat was reinforced by a stronger-than-expected outlook for the fiscal fourth quarter.
Management forecast revenue of between $1.93 billion and $1.95 billion, comfortably above the analyst consensus of $1.82 billion.
Adjusted earnings per share are expected to range from $3.34 to $3.40, compared with Wall Street expectations of approximately $2.68 per share.
The substantial gap between Keysight’s guidance and existing analyst forecasts provided investors with further evidence that strong demand could continue beyond the latest quarter.
Margins Expand as Free Cash Flow Reaches $403 Million
Keysight also demonstrated significant operating leverage during the period. Operating margin expanded by more than 800 basis points compared with the previous year, reflecting the benefits of stronger revenue and disciplined cost management.
Free cash flow reached $403 million, providing the company with additional financial flexibility while it continued to return capital through its share repurchase programme.
The combination of expanding margins and robust cash generation suggests Keysight is translating its strong demand environment into improved financial performance rather than relying solely on top-line growth.
AI Investment Supports Keysight’s Growth Outlook
The broader market offered a modestly favourable backdrop, with S&P 500 futures gaining 0.1%, Dow Jones futures advancing 0.02% and Nasdaq futures rising 0.1% in pre-market trading.
Positive sentiment was also visible among companies exposed to testing, measurement and photonics, reflecting continued expectations for heavy capital expenditure by hyperscale technology companies building AI infrastructure.
For Keysight, the combination of a substantial earnings beat, 56% order growth and fourth-quarter guidance well above consensus strengthened the investment case around its exposure to the multi-year expansion of AI infrastructure.
That theme has already contributed to bullish analyst expectations for the stock, with several price targets sitting substantially above its current trading level, including a $400 target from Morgan Stanley.
