Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) has entered into long-term agreements to purchase electricity from four wind farms in Sweden as the company expands its data centre capacity in the country, Bloomberg reported on Friday.
The agreements are expected to add nearly 200 megawatts of electricity to Amazon’s power supply, according to company statements cited by Bloomberg.
Swedish power supply set to exceed 1 gigawatt
Once the four wind farms are fully operational, Amazon is expected to have more than 1 gigawatt of power supply in Sweden.
The agreements form part of the electricity supply supporting the company’s expanding data centre capacity in the Nordic country.
Eolus and OX2 developing wind farms
The four Swedish wind farms are being developed by Eolus AB and OX2 AB.
OX2 is owned by private equity firm EQT AB.
