US Futures Slip, European Stocks Mixed

In the U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were down 0.3% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.2%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.

In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 gained 0.2% in morning trading. Pandora added 7.6% and Bawag Group rose 6.3%. On the other hand, Stadler Rail slipped 5.5%, and Gerresheimer lost 5.1%. The FTSE 100 added 0.2%. Other stocks in Europe were mixed as France’s CAC 40 increased 0.1% and Germany’s DAX dropped 0.1%.

The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index was flat at 100.56.

In commodities, Brent crude gained 0.5% to $86.26 a barrel, and WTI crude climbed 0.4% to $84.56 a barrel.

The German 10-year Bund yield rose by 3 basis points to 2.955% from 2.923%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury rose by 2 basis points to 4.752% from 4.736%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.

Stocks in Asia were up as Japan’s Nikkei 225 index gained 1.8%, whereas Hong Kong’s Hang Seng gained 0.2%. Markets in China were closed.
