Hain Celestial Reports FY2026 Results as North America Margins Improve

Hain Celestial reported lower fiscal 2026 sales and adjusted EBITDA, while fourth-quarter North America organic growth, margin expansion and stronger free cash flow highlighted progress ahead of the planned sale of its International business.

Key Investor Takeaways

  • Hain Celestial (NASDAQ:HAIN) reported fiscal 2026 net sales of $1.35 billion, down 13%, while organic net sales declined 3%.
  • Fourth-quarter North America organic net sales increased 2%, with adjusted EBITDA rising 55% and adjusted EBITDA margin expanding to 14.4%.
  • Fiscal-year free cash flow improved to $58 million from a $3 million outflow, while net debt declined to $500 million from $650 million at the start of the year.
  • Full-year adjusted EBITDA fell to $89 million from $114 million, showing that profitability remains below the prior-year level despite fourth-quarter North America margin improvement.
  • Hain said its transition toward a focused North American business depends on completing the separately announced International business sale and reaching an agreement with lenders to extend its December debt maturity.

Why HAIN Stock Is in Focus

Hain Celestial’s fiscal 2026 results showed a business that became smaller following portfolio changes but generated substantially more cash and reduced debt during the year.

Fourth-quarter net sales fell 28% year over year to $263 million, primarily reflecting the divestiture of the North American snacks business. On an organic basis, sales declined 2%, with volume and mix down two percentage points and pricing flat.

The quarterly gross margin increased 200 basis points to 22.5%, while adjusted gross margin rose 230 basis points to 22.7%. Adjusted EBITDA was $19 million versus $20 million a year earlier.

North America provided a more positive operating signal. Organic sales increased 2%, led by meal prep and strength in yogurt. Adjusted EBITDA rose 55% to $16 million, while adjusted EBITDA margin expanded 940 basis points to 14.4%, reflecting SG&A reductions and productivity savings alongside other factors.

For the full year, however, adjusted EBITDA declined to $89 million from $114 million and Hain recorded an adjusted net loss of $16 million, compared with adjusted net income of $8 million in fiscal 2025.

Why This Matters for Investors

The fourth-quarter North America performance may carry additional significance given Hain’s proposed sale of its International operations. Management said that, assuming the transaction closes and the company reaches an agreement with lenders over its December debt maturity, Hain expects to emerge as a more focused North American company.

That puts greater investor attention on whether the North American segment can sustain its recent margin improvement. Its fiscal 2026 adjusted EBITDA margin increased 160 basis points to 8.9%, even though adjusted EBITDA declined 7% for the year.

Cash generation also changes part of the financial picture. Fiscal-year operating cash flow increased to $78 million from $22 million, while free cash flow reached $58 million compared with a $3 million outflow in the previous year.

Hain used the year to reduce total debt to $558 million from $705 million and net debt to $500 million from $650 million. However, its net secured leverage ratio remained 4.5x at year-end, and management specifically identified an extension of the December debt maturity as a condition in its planned transition.

Category performance remains uneven. Fiscal 2026 organic sales fell 12% in Baby & Kids and 7% in Snacks, while Beverages increased 1% and Meal Prep was flat. Those differences suggest future performance may depend partly on whether growth in selected North American categories can offset continued pressure elsewhere.

What to Watch Next

The main near-term issues are completion of the International business sale and the outcome of discussions with lenders over the December debt maturity. Investors may also watch whether North America’s fourth-quarter organic growth and margin expansion continue after the portfolio restructuring, alongside further progress in free cash flow and debt reduction.

Separately, trends in Baby & Kids remain relevant after another double-digit organic sales decline, while Meal Prep and Beverages provide indicators of whether Hain can generate broader organic growth within its remaining portfolio.
