U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were up 0.1% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average were flat. Changes in futures don’t necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.
In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 declined 0.1% in morning trading. THG added 5.9% and Novo Nordisk Series B climbed 4.1%. On the other hand, Fresenius Medical Care dropped 21.9%, and Fresenius SE & Co. KGaA slipped 12.9%. The FTSE 100 lost 0.1%. Other stocks in Europe were down as France’s CAC 40 decreased 0.8% and Germany’s DAX fell 0.2%.
The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index was flat at 99.87.
In commodities, Brent crude rose 0.5% to $88.09 a barrel, and WTI crude gained 0.5% to $86.37 a barrel.
The German 10-year Bund yield declined by 1 basis point to 2.767% from 2.781%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury fell by 4 basis points to 4.623% from 4.664%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.
Stocks in Asia were up as Japan’s Nikkei 225 index climbed 0.6%, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng climbed 1.5%. China’s benchmark Shanghai Composite climbed 0.1%.
