ACI Worldwide (NASDAQ:ACIW) and Cognizant (NASDAQ:CTSH) announced results from joint performance testing of BASE24-eps, ACI’s card acquiring and issuing software component, deployed on Amazon Web Services.
According to ACI Worldwide, the system sustained more than twice the target transaction load for 30 minutes without recording a failed transaction. Across the full test, BASE24-eps processed more than 4.6 million transactions without a failure.
The testing was conducted in a non-production environment.
Testing Uses Amazon EC2 and PostgreSQL
The test environment operated on Amazon EC2 with Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL.
Observability was implemented using the OpenTelemetry standard and monitored through Amazon CloudWatch, providing real-time information on transaction flows, system health and throughput during testing.
Cognizant designed the target architecture, provisioned the environment and deployed BASE24-eps using an AWS account operated by ACI Worldwide. The installation and deployment processes were automated.
“This testing put BASE24-eps under sustained load on AWS, and it ran well past target without a failed transaction,” said Ajmal Syed, Chief Architect and Technical Fellow at ACI Worldwide.
Companies Outline Additional Production Requirements
“Banks do not move payment systems on optimism. They move on evidence,” said Nitin Bahl, Strategic Business Unit Head, Fintech and Payments at Cognizant. “Our engineers built a working environment on AWS and ran sustained load through it.”
ACI Worldwide and Cognizant said moving from the test environment to a production deployment would require additional work.
The companies identified resilience across availability zones, failover and disaster recovery testing, security hardening, further nonfunctional testing and payment network certification among the additional requirements for production deployment.
