U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were up 0.2% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.2%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.
In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 gained 0.2% in morning trading. Atos climbed 8.2% and Bank Polska Kasa Opieki rose 7.7%. On the other hand, Viaplay Group Series B lost 5.9%, and Ocado Group sunk 3.4%. The FTSE 100 added 0.3%. Other stocks in Europe were up as France’s CAC 40 increased 0.1% and Germany’s DAX climbed 0.1%.
The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index fell 0.1% to 100.54.
In commodities, Brent crude dropped 0.2% to $90.73 a barrel, and WTI crude was flat at $87.73 a barrel.
The German 10-year Bund yield rose by 4 basis points to 2.774% from 2.737%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury rose by 6 basis points to 4.684% from 4.627%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.
Stocks in Asia were down as Japan’s Nikkei 225 index fell 2%, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng declined 1%. China’s benchmark Shanghai Composite declined 0.5%.
