BIO-key Expands Middle East Government Security Engagement With New Identity Management Deployment

BIO-key International, Inc. (NASDAQ:BKYI) has deployed its identity and access management technology to an additional customer within a Middle Eastern government’s national security network, expanding its involvement in securing sensitive government and defence systems in the region.

The new deployment is intended to strengthen authentication and access controls across online and offline systems, as the government continues efforts to modernise its digital security infrastructure and reduce dependence on traditional passwords.

The identity security provider is working with regional distribution partner IT Harmony to support the implementation.

BIO-key did not disclose the identity of the government or customer, the financial value of the engagement or the number of users covered by the deployment.

New Deployment Targets Sensitive Government Systems

The latest engagement extends BIO-key’s existing relationship within the government’s national security environment, where controlling access to confidential information and critical operational systems is a priority.

The deployment uses the company’s identity and access management (IAM) technology to establish more consistent authentication procedures across different systems.

The technology is designed to help organisations manage user identities centrally, apply standardised access policies and reduce exposure to risks associated with stolen or compromised passwords.

BIO-key’s authentication capabilities include biometric identification, multi-factor authentication and passwordless access methods.

The company said the additional deployment supports the government’s broader efforts to strengthen identity assurance and improve security across its digital operations.

BIO-key Works With IT Harmony on Regional Implementation

BIO-key’s international team is collaborating with IT Harmony, its Gulf-region value-added distribution partner, to deliver the new deployment.

IT Harmony is providing regional technical coordination and implementation support, combining local market knowledge with BIO-key’s identity security technology.

The partnership is intended to help align the deployment with the customer’s operational and security requirements.

Rami Alamleh, Technical Leader at IT Harmony, said close cooperation is particularly important when implementing cybersecurity technology in sensitive government environments.

“Our collaboration with BIO-key reflects the value of combining proven identity security technology with strong regional expertise,” Alamleh said.

“Supporting customers in sensitive government environments requires close coordination, technical understanding, and a clear focus on implementation requirements. We are pleased to support this engagement as the deployment progresses and to contribute to the delivery of identity security capabilities aligned with the customer’s needs.”

Middle East Government Expands Passwordless Security Measures

The deployment forms part of the government’s ongoing investment in modernising authentication and access management across its national security systems.

Traditional password-based security can create vulnerabilities when credentials are stolen or compromised, particularly where organisations operate multiple systems with different authentication requirements.

BIO-key’s technology is intended to address these challenges through centralised identity controls and authentication methods that can reduce reliance on passwords.

The company’s PortalGuard IAM platform supports multi-factor authentication, single sign-on and centralised access management across cloud-hosted and on-premises environments.

Its Identity-Bound Biometrics technology also provides authentication linked to an individual’s biometric identity rather than relying exclusively on a device or credential.

Alex Rocha, International Managing Director at BIO-key, said the additional engagement reflects the government’s focus on improving security across sensitive systems.

“Expanding our engagement within this government demonstrates the importance of getting identity security right in environments where access to sensitive systems must be carefully controlled,” Rocha said.

“Our focus is on helping organizations move beyond traditional password-dependent security toward a stronger, more consistent approach to identity and access management.”

BIO-key Continues Expansion in Gulf Cybersecurity Market

The new customer deployment adds to BIO-key’s activities in the Middle East, where the company is working with regional partners to supply identity security solutions to government and other organisations.

The company said its approach combines international technology expertise with local implementation capabilities to address the requirements of customers operating in sensitive environments.

Almuez Mansour, International Sales Leader at BIO-key, said the project reflects continued demand for identity management solutions within the government’s security infrastructure.

“Executing new deployments within a sensitive government environment requires a close understanding of both the technology and the customer’s operational priorities,” Mansour said.

“This deployment reflects the government’s confidence in our partner-delivered solution and our commitment to supporting customers as their requirements evolve.”

BIO-key provides identity and access management and biometric authentication technology to organisations worldwide, with its solutions supporting more than 40 million users.

BIO-key Outlook

The additional deployment expands BIO-key’s involvement within an existing Middle Eastern government security environment and extends the use of its authentication technology to another customer.

The engagement also reinforces the company’s regional distribution relationship with IT Harmony, which is supporting the technical implementation.

Although the announcement provides evidence of continued customer activity in the region, BIO-key has not disclosed contract revenue, deployment costs or a timetable for completion.

The financial contribution of the engagement therefore remains unspecified.
