US Futures, European Stocks Mostly Flat

U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were up 0.1% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average were flat. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.

In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 was flat in morning trading. Getinge Series B rose 4.3% and Wallenstam Series B added 3.2%. On the other hand, Adevinta dropped 12.1%, and Schibsted lost 5%. The FTSE 100 lost 0.2%. Other stocks in Europe were up as France’s CAC 40 increased 0.1% and Germany’s DAX climbed 0.1%.

The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index climbed 0.1% to 100.53.

In commodities, Brent crude fell 0.7% to $91.47 a barrel, and WTI crude dropped 1% to $87.23 a barrel.

The German 10-year Bund yield climbed by 4 basis points to 2.933% from 2.893%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury rose by 6 basis points to 4.987% from 4.928%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.

Stocks in Asia were down as Japan’s Nikkei 225 index declined 0.8%, whereas markets in Hong Kong were closed. China’s benchmark Shanghai Composite dropped 1.5%.
